It’s all lies, folks

Governments and men in power have long known the truth: there is no “freedom”. It does not exist. You have only the rights that the nearest man with a loaded gun is willing to let you have. Democracy is the easiest thing in the world to subvert, and the desire to preserve the comforting illusion of justice means that no one will look too hard for evidence that laws and well-meaning-governments are just bullshit.

Nazi Germany was the rule, not the exception. All governments murder, not all have their death camps uncovered and broadcast by conquerors. The vilification of the Nazis serves only to create the idea of “good guys” and “bad guys” which is always propaganda.

Now educated, thoughtful people know that all of the above is true, as do your paranoid anti-government types. Propaganda-believers and those who would rather indulge in the joys of denial than face harsh truths that they lack the will to change, they have already stopped reading. Nothing will ever change, not as long as people organize themselves into societies with laws and a structure.

The key to a successful society is it’s ability to hide it’s true nature from its citizens behind layers of revised history and strictly-controlled media. Control what people know about themselves and how they came to be where they are and you control everything they will ever want to do.

The key to happiness wherever you are, is to find a way to hide from the truth. Hide from the poverty, tell yourself that the happiest and most pleasant lies are, in fact, true. Limit your consumption of the media to the outlets are most likely to hide the unpleasantness from you, meaning the ones who are willing to lie and sugarcoat, to spin in the most comforting way.

Look at the first paragraph of this post again. You really have no clue how true this is, nor do you want to. To accept it means that you, wherever you are, have to stop feeling all righteous when comparing yourself to the Third World (or, if you are in the Third World, to the rest of the Third World), to the tyrants and the ethnic cleansers, to the nations that everybody agrees are poorer and more brutal than you. You will lose the idea of national glory and “respect” for your flag. Your identity as a citizen will be tainted by the blood of innocents, by a heritage of cruelty.
